12th Poster Painting Competition: Rotary On-The-Spot 03 Feb 2013

            Rotary Club Delhi South-West hosted with pride their 12th “Rotary On – The – Spot – Poster – Painting Competition” for Children on 03rd Feb 2013 at ARSD College grounds.

         The journey that started with about 350 students at Delhi Haat in the year 2000-01, and has grown every year & it has surpassed all previous records with about 3800 participants this year. This major Rotary Vocational Service Project of the RCD South West, invites thousands of children from schools all over Delhi NCR who enthusiastically assemble every year to show their artistic talent and awareness on social evils and make their Metro-City “MERI DILLI” clean, beautiful and crime free.

           Rtn Praveen Kandru President, like every predecessor has done one better than previous one, to keep the tradition alive and kicking along with the members of RCD South West.

        There was tremendous efforts put in behind the scenes from all members of RCD South West who assisted the President Praveen Kandru, Club Secretary Avneesh Bajaj, Event Chairman PP Rtn Ranjan Chopra & Co-Chairman PP Rtn Pankaj Agarwal .

Rotarians and their spouses were at the ground at 9.00 AM, two hours ahead of schedule time of 11.00 AM, taking their seats at different age-group registration counters, distributing sheets & end polio now caps & other members attending  at the painting enclosures.

On registration, participants  were handed over one marked Poster sheet to work on and were given ample time to complete their painting, on topics viz. “Pride of Delhi”, “Conservation of Resources”, “Removal of Social Evils” ,”Social Responsibilities” etc. On completion of painting, every child was given ‘Certificate of Participation’ and food/beverage packets, sponsored by ‘Bikano’.

R.I. Polio-plus Committee distributed Caps to all the participants to bring polio prevention awareness amongst those present.

 A wonderful magic Show was conducted by Magician Krishan Gopaal to the delight of children; meanwhile a battery of eminent judges from the art & craft fraternity diligently worked on deciding the best paintings amongst the thousands of paintings; a Herculean task in itself. The judges distributed around 40 consolation prizes for the very good paintings though less than best.; meanwhile Chief Guest Prof Kiran Walia, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Woman & Child development & Languages Delhi Govt   arrived and distributed the prizes and gifts to the winners. She praised the children for their imagination putting in to spectacular paintings.
